看哪，兒女是耶和華所賜的產業，所懷的胎是他所給的賞賜。

他使不孕的婦女安居家中，成為快樂的母親，兒女成羣。哈利路亞！

我祈求為要得這孩子，耶和華已將我向他所求的賜給我了。

願耶和華從這年輕女子賜你後裔，使你的家像她瑪從猶大所生法勒斯的家一樣。」

亞伯拉罕向上帝禱告，上帝就醫好亞比米勒和他的妻子，以及他的使女們，他們就能生育。因耶和華為亞伯拉罕的妻子撒拉的緣故，已經使亞比米勒家中的婦人不能懷孕。耶和華照着他所說的眷顧撒拉，耶和華實現了他對撒拉的應許。亞伯拉罕年老，到上帝對他說的那所定的時候，撒拉懷了孕，給他生了一個兒子。亞伯拉罕給撒拉所生的兒子起名叫以撒。

上帝顧念拉結，應允她，使她能生育。拉結懷孕生子，說：「上帝除去了我的羞恥。」

雅各對拉結生氣，說：「是我代替上帝使你生不出孩子的嗎？」

以撒因他妻子不生育，就為她祈求耶和華。耶和華應允他的祈求，他的妻子利百加就懷了孕。

飽足的人作雇工求食；飢餓的人也不再飢餓。不生育的生了七個；兒女多的反倒孤獨。
