耶和华见利亚失宠，就使她生育，拉结却不生育。

女儿啊，现在不要惧怕，凡你所说的，我必照着行；我本城的人都知道你是个贤德的女子。

儿女是耶和华所赐的产业；所怀的胎是他所给的赏赐。

他使不能生育的妇人安居家中，为多子的乐母。你们要赞美耶和华！

我祈求为要得这孩子；耶和华已将我所求的赐给我了。

愿耶和华从这少年女子赐你后裔，使你的家像他玛从犹大所生法勒斯的家一般。”

亚伯拉罕祷告神，神就医好了亚比米勒和他的妻子，并他的众女仆，她们便能生育。因耶和华为亚伯拉罕的妻子撒拉的缘故，已经使亚比米勒家中的妇人不能生育。耶和华按着先前的话眷顾撒拉，便照他所说的给撒拉成就。当亚伯拉罕年老的时候，撒拉怀了孕；到神所说的日期，就给亚伯拉罕生了一个儿子。亚伯拉罕给撒拉所生的儿子起名叫以撒。

神顾念拉结，应允了她，使她能生育。拉结怀孕生子，说：“神除去了我的羞耻”，

雅各向拉结生气，说：“叫你不生育的是神，我岂能代替他作主呢？”

以撒因他妻子不生育，就为她祈求耶和华；耶和华应允他的祈求，他的妻子利百加就怀了孕。

素来饱足的，反作佣人求食；饥饿的，再不饥饿。不生育的，生了七个儿子；多有儿女的，反倒衰微。
