昔大馬從猶大生法勒士、以立其家、願耶和華使此婦生子、成立爾家、亦若是。

願主由此幼婦賜爾後嗣、使爾家如法勒斯之家、即他瑪從猶大所生者、

Through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman, may your family be like that of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah.”

The Lord will give you children through this young woman. May your family be like the family of Perez. He was the son Tamar had by Judah.”

随后这孩子把手收回去，他哥哥生出来了；收生婆说：“你为什么抢着来呢？”因此给他起名叫法勒斯。

犹大从他玛氏生法勒斯和谢拉；法勒斯生希斯仑；希斯仑生亚兰；

犹大的儿子是珥、俄南、示拉、法勒斯、谢拉；惟有珥与俄南死在迦南地。法勒斯的儿子是希斯仑、哈母勒。

犹大的儿妇他玛给犹大生法勒斯和谢拉。犹大共有五个儿子。

以利为以利加拿和他的妻祝福，说：“愿耶和华由这妇人再赐你后裔，代替你从耶和华求来的孩子。”他们就回本乡去了。

按着家族，犹大其余的众子：属示拉的，有示拉族；属法勒斯的，有法勒斯族；属谢拉的有谢拉族。法勒斯的儿子：属希斯仑的，有希斯仑族；属哈母勒的，有哈母勒族。这就是犹大的各族，照他们中间被数的，共有七万六千五百名。
