Boaz is a close relative of ours, and he’s been very kind by letting you gather grain with his young women. Tonight he will be winnowing barley at the threshing floor.

波阿斯對路得說：「女兒啊，聽我說，不要到別人田裏去拾取麥穗，也不要離開這裏，要緊跟着我的女僕們。

「兄弟住在一起，若其中一個死了，沒有兒子，死者的妻子就不可出去嫁給陌生人。她丈夫的兄弟應當盡兄弟的本分，娶她為妻，與她同房。婦人生的長子要歸在已故兄弟的名下，免得他的名在以色列中塗去了。那人若不情願娶他兄弟的妻子，他兄弟的妻子就要上到城門長老那裏，說：『我丈夫的兄弟拒絕在以色列中為他的兄弟留名，不願意為我盡兄弟的本分。』本城的長老就要召那人來，跟他談話。若他堅持說：『我不情願娶她。』他兄弟的妻子就要在長老眼前來到那人跟前，脫下他腳上的鞋，吐唾沫在他臉上，回應說：『凡不為兄弟建立家室的都要這樣待他。』在以色列中，他要以『脫鞋之家』聞名。」

拿娥米對媳婦說：「願那人蒙耶和華賜福，因為他不斷地恩待活人死人。」拿娥米又對她說：「那人是我們本族的人，是一個可以贖我們產業的至親。」摩押女子路得說：「他還對我說：『你要緊跟着我的僕人拾取麥穗，直到他們把我所有的莊稼收割完畢。』」拿娥米對媳婦路得說：「女兒啊，你要跟着他的女僕出去，免得你在別人的田間受人騷擾。」於是路得緊跟着波阿斯的女僕拾取麥穗，直到大麥和小麥收割完畢。路得仍與婆婆同住。

拿娥米有一個親戚，是她丈夫以利米勒本族的人，名叫波阿斯，是個大財主。

因那使人成聖的，和那些得以成聖的，都是出於一。為這緣故，他稱他們為弟兄也不以為恥，說：「我要將你的名傳給我的弟兄，在會眾中我要頌揚你。」他又說：「我要依賴他。」他又說：「看哪！我與上帝所給我的兒女都在這裏。」既然兒女同有血肉之軀，他也照樣親自成了血肉之軀，為能藉着死敗壞那掌管死權的，就是魔鬼，
