當然，這不是說神的話落了空，因為出自以色列的，不都是以色列人；

但這並不是說、上帝的話似乎廢墮了。原來從以色列而出的、並不都是「以色列人」。

但這並不是說神的話語落了空，因為由以色列所生的，並不都是以色列人；

非謂上帝之言廢也、蓋出於以色列者、非盡以色列人、

夫上帝之言不廢、由以色列生者、不得盡為以色列人、

然此非謂天主之言廢也、蓋由以色列生者、非皆為以色列人、

然則天主果食其言矣乎？無是理也！蓋出自義塞者、非必盡為義塞人；

It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

I do not mean that God’s word has failed. Not everyone in the family line of Israel really belongs to Israel.

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,

Well then, has God failed to fulfill his promise to Israel? No, for not all who are born into the nation of Israel are truly members of God’s people!

Now it is not as though the word of God has failed, because not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;

But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they[ are] not all Israel, which are of Israel:

It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel that are of Israel.

所有照這準則而行的人，願平安憐憫臨到他們，就是臨到神的以色列。

因為表面上作猶太人的並不是猶太人，在肉身上表面的割禮也不是割禮。唯有在內心作猶太人的才是猶太人；割禮也是心裡的，是靠著聖靈而不是靠著儀文。這樣的人所受的稱讚，不是從人來的，而是從神來的。

即使有人不信，又有甚麼關係呢？難道他們的不信會使神的信實無效嗎？

耶穌看見拿但業向他走過來，就論到他說：“看哪，這的確是個以色列人，他心裡沒有詭詐。”

神不是人，必不致說謊，也不是人子，必不致後悔。他說話，怎能不作？他發言，怎能不作成？

又作受割禮之人的父，就是作那些不僅受割禮，並且照著我們祖宗亞伯拉罕未受割禮時就信的那腳蹤而行之人的父。原來神給亞伯拉罕和他後裔承受世界的應許，並不是因著律法，而是藉著因信而來的義。如果屬於律法的人才能成為後嗣，信就沒有作用，應許也就落空了。因為律法帶來刑罰，沒有律法，就沒有違背律法的事。所以，成為後嗣是因著信，為的是要按著神的恩典，使給所有後裔的應許堅定不移，不但臨到那屬於律法的人，也臨到那效法亞伯拉罕而信的人。亞伯拉罕在神面前作我們眾人的父，

那麼我要說，難道神丟棄了他的子民嗎？絕對沒有！因為我自己也是以色列人，是亞伯拉罕的後裔，屬於便雅憫支派的。神並沒有丟棄他預先知道的子民。難道你們不知道在經上以利亞的話是怎樣說的嗎？他向神控訴以色列人：

聖經是不能廢除的，如果那些承受神的道的人，神尚且稱他們是神，

從我的口所出的話也必這樣，必不徒然返回我這裡，卻要作成我所喜悅的，使它在我差遣它去作的事上必然亨通。

我們縱然不信，他仍然是信實的，因為他不能否定自己。”這話是可信的。

天地都要過去，但我的話決不會廢去。

照樣，神定意向那些承受應許的人，更清楚地表明他的旨意是不更改的，就用起誓作保證。這兩件事是不能更改的，因為神是決不說謊的。因此，我們這些逃進避難所的人，就大得安慰，抓緊那擺在我們面前的盼望。
