那麼，你會對我說：「既然如此，神為什麼還要指責人呢？到底誰能抵擋他的旨意呢？」

如是、爾必語我云、上帝何尚責人乎、孰逆其旨乎、

然則爾必語我云、天主何尚責人哉、誰能抗拒其旨乎、

爾將謂予曰：既如此、則天主尚何復責人？夫孰能違其意乎？

One of you will say to me:“ Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?”

You will say to me then,“ Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”

You will say to me, therefore,“ Why then does he still find fault? For who resists his will?”

Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he still find fault? For who withstandeth his will?

All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him,‘ What do you mean by doing these things?’

And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say,“ God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.

But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him.

Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.

I am sending Assyria against a godless nation, against a people with whom I am angry. Assyria will plunder them, trampling them like dirt beneath its feet.But the king of Assyria will not understand that he is my tool; his mind does not work that way. His plan is simply to destroy, to cut down nation after nation.

But once he has made his decision, who can change his mind? Whatever he wants to do, he does.So he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny.

If it’s a question of strength, he’s the strong one. If it’s a matter of justice, who dares to summon him to court?

“ Well,” you may say,“ those branches were broken off to make room for me.”

If he snatches someone in death, who can stop him? Who dares to ask,‘ What are you doing?’And God does not restrain his anger. If God were not entirely fair, how would he be qualified to judge the world?“ But,” someone might still argue,“ how can God condemn me as a sinner if my dishonesty highlights his truthfulness and brings him more glory?”And some people even slander us by claiming that we say,“ The more we sin, the better it is!” Those who say such things deserve to be condemned.
