It is written,“ Because of you, we face death all day long. We are considered as sheep to be killed.”( Psalm 44:22)

( As the Scriptures say,“ For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”)

This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:“ He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings.

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me— the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

I had been like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter; I did not realize that they had plotted against me, saying,“ Let us destroy the tree and its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.”

We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.

They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.

They will say,“ As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave.”
