況且，聖靈也照樣扶助我們的軟弱。事實上，我們不知道該禱告什麼、如何禱告，但聖靈卻親自用說不出的嘆息，為我們代求。

且聖神亦如是助我儕之弱、蓋我不知宜如何祈禱、惟聖神以莫可言之太息、代我懇求、

我儕荏弱、聖神助我、我不識所當禱者、聖神以不可言之嘅嘆代我禱也、

且我儕懦弱、聖神助我、蓋我儕不知所當禱者、聖神以不可言之歎息代我禱也、

即聖神因鑒於吾人之闇弱、而昧於祈禱之道、亦多方相助、以不可思議之歎息、而為吾人代求焉。

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us when we are weak. We don’t know what we should pray for. But the Spirit himself prays for us. He prays through groans too deep for words.

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out,“ Abba, Father!”

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—

For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out,“ Abba, Father.”

The Lord has heard my supplication; The Lord will receive my prayer.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

“ And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

But Jesus answered and said,“ You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him,“ We are able.”

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.

Give ear to my prayer, O God, And do not hide Yourself from my supplication.Attend to me, and hear me; I am restless in my complaint, and moan noisily,

Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities.For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me.And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.And He said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I cried out to God with my voice— To God with my voice; And He gave ear to me.In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; My soul refused to be comforted.I remembered God, and was troubled; I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah

Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed.I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands.I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. SelahAnswer me speedily, O Lord; My spirit fails! Do not hide Your face from me, Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.

As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me,“ Where is your God?”When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.

Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear,

O Lord, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You.Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry.For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near to the grave.

My soul faints for Your salvation, But I hope in Your word.My eyes fail from searching Your word, Saying,“ When will You comfort me?”

To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To release those appointed to death,

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him,“ Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”So He said to them,“ When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us day by day our daily bread.And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.”And He said to them,“ Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him,‘ Friend, lend me three loaves;for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;and he will answer from within and say,‘ Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’?I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.“ So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness.

Because of the sound of my groaning My bones cling to my skin.

I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O Lord— how long?

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,
