況且，聖靈也照樣扶助我們的軟弱。事實上，我們不知道該禱告什麼、如何禱告，但聖靈卻親自用說不出的嘆息，為我們代求。

且聖神亦如是助我儕之弱、蓋我不知宜如何祈禱、惟聖神以莫可言之太息、代我懇求、

我儕荏弱、聖神助我、我不識所當禱者、聖神以不可言之嘅嘆代我禱也、

且我儕懦弱、聖神助我、蓋我儕不知所當禱者、聖神以不可言之歎息代我禱也、

即聖神因鑒於吾人之闇弱、而昧於祈禱之道、亦多方相助、以不可思議之歎息、而為吾人代求焉。

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us when we are weak. We don’t know what we should pray for. But the Spirit himself prays for us. He prays through groans too deep for words.

But you, dear friends, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.

For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out,“ Abba, Father!”

The LORD has heard my plea for help; the LORD accepts my prayer.

You ask and don’t receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Being in anguish, he prayed more fervently, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves.

“ Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at me whom they pierced. They will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for him as one weeps for a firstborn.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.

Indeed, we groan while we are in this tent, burdened as we are, because we do not want to be unclothed but clothed, so that mortality may be swallowed up by life.

God, listen to my prayer and do not hide from my plea for help.Pay attention to me and answer me. I am restless and in turmoil with my complaint,

I will boast about this person, but not about myself, except of my weaknesses.For if I want to boast, I wouldn’t be a fool, because I would be telling the truth. But I will spare you, so that no one can credit me with something beyond what he sees in me or hears from me,especially because of the extraordinary revelations. Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to torment me so that I would not exalt myself.Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times that it would leave me.But he said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and in difficulties, for the sake of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me.I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted.I think of God; I groan; I meditate; my spirit becomes weak. Selah

My spirit is weak within me; my heart is overcome with dismay.I remember the days of old; I meditate on all you have done; I reflect on the work of your hands.I spread out my hands to you; I am like parched land before you. SelahAnswer me quickly, LORD; my spirit fails. Don’t hide your face from me, or I will be like those going down to the Pit.

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so I long for you, God.I thirst for God, the living God. When can I come and appear before God?My tears have been my food day and night, while all day long people say to me,“ Where is your God?”I remember this as I pour out my heart: how I walked with many, leading the festive procession to the house of God, with joyful and thankful shouts.Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God.

LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully,

LORD, God of my salvation, I cry out before you day and night.May my prayer reach your presence; listen to my cry.For I have had enough troubles, and my life is near Sheol.

I long for your salvation; I put my hope in your word.My eyes grow weary looking for what you have promised; I ask,“ When will you comfort me?”

to hear a prisoner’s groaning, to set free those condemned to die,

He was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him,“ Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”He said to them,“ Whenever you pray, say, Father, your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come.Give us each day our daily bread.And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone in debt to us. The door is already locked, and my children and I have gone to bed. I can’t get up to give you anything.’I tell you, even though he won’t get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his friend’s shameless boldness, he will get up and give him as much as he needs.“ So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish?Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he is also clothed with weakness.

Because of the sound of my groaning, my flesh sticks to my bones.

I am weary from my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God.

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

my whole being is shaken with terror. And you, LORD— how long?

Indeed, we groan in this tent, desiring to put on our heavenly dwelling,
