For I know that in me( that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but[ how] to perform that which is good I find not.

亦知我情欲中無懿德、因好之者雖在前、而行其善者不得也、

我亦知我中、即在我肉體中、無有善、雖願為善、而為善不得、

吾知寓吾肉身之內者、實無片善可稱也。為善之願、未始無有；而為善之力、則未能有也。

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

I know there is nothing good in my desires controlled by sin. I want to do what is good, but I can’t.

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.

For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it.

For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Who can bring a clean[ thing] out of an unclean? not one.

Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful,[ and] hating one another.

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

What[ is] man, that he should be clean? and[ he which is] born of a woman, that he should be righteous?Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.How much more abominable and filthy[ is] man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of[ his] good pleasure.

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart[ is] evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

And you[ hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,( by grace ye are saved;)

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man[ was] great in the earth, and[ that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart[ was] only evil continually.

Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.For to be carnally minded[ is] death; but to be spiritually minded[ is] life and peace.Because the carnal mind[ is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.And if Christ[ be] in you, the body[ is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit[ is] life because of righteousness.But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to[ fulfil] the lusts[ thereof].

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean[ that is] born of a woman?

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are[ these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told[ you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall[ your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

That he no longer should live the rest of[ his] time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

But we are all as an unclean[ thing], and all our righteousnesses[ are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
