經何云、亞伯拉罕信天主、天主即視此為亞伯拉罕之義、

經不云乎：『亞伯漢篤信天主、因是而稱義焉。』

What does Scripture say?“ Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

What do we find in Scripture? It says,“ Abraham believed God. God accepted Abraham’s faith, and so his faith made him right with God.”( Genesis 15:6)

For the Scriptures tell us,“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”

So the Scripture was fulfilled which says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.

Is this blessing then pronounced on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness.

Even as Abraham“ believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”Know therefore that those who are of faith are children of Abraham.The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying,“ In you all the nations will be blessed.”

But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be accounted to them.

That was credited to him for righteousness, for all generations to come.

God didn’t reject his people, which he foreknew. Or don’t you know what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he pleads with God against Israel:

Therefore it also was“ credited to him for righteousness.”Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,but for our sake also, to whom it will be accounted, who believe in him who raised Jesus, our Lord, from the dead,who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.

For the Scripture says,“ Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh,“ For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

Turn to the law and to the covenant! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain,“ The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?

Haven’t you even read this Scripture:‘ The stone which the builders rejected was made the head of the corner.

knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
