然則我祖亞伯拉罕、我儕可謂其以本身所行者以本身所行者原文作循肉體何所得乎、

即就吾祖亞伯漢而論、若祇憑其本身之智力、亦何所得乎？

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter?

What should we say about these things? What did Abraham, the father of our people, discover about being right with God?

What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh?

Abraham was, humanly speaking, the founder of our Jewish nation. What did he discover about being made right with God?

What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh?

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh?

What then can we say that Abraham, our physical ancestor, has found?

What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, has discovered regarding this matter?

For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for when he was but one I called him, I blessed him, and made him many.

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the offspring of Abraham? So am I.

They answered him,“ We are Abraham’s offspring, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say,‘ You will be made free’?”

He cried and said,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’“ But Abraham said,‘ Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted, and you are in anguish.

Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to you.

Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, and don’t begin to say among yourselves,‘ We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad.”

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting, unless the law had said,“ You shall not covet.”

I know that you are Abraham’s offspring, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.”They answered him,“ Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them,“ If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this.You do the works of your father.” They said to him,“ We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”

What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

“ But Abraham said to him,‘ They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’“ He said,‘ No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’“ He said to him,‘ If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”

Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?”

Don’t think to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
