夫法之所言、所以昭示法內之人、亦所以塞夫人之口、而使舉世皆服罪於天主之前也。

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.

What the law says, it says to those who are ruled by the law. Its purpose is to shut every mouth and make the whole world accountable to God.

Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God.

Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.

that you may remember and be confounded, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I atone for you for all that you have done, declares the Lord God.”

The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth.

What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,

So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.

Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled:‘ They hated me without a cause.’

To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law( though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.To those outside the law I became as one outside the law( not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written,“ That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.”

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things.

But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.

“ He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail.

to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
