不喫肉，不喝酒，不在任何事上叫你的弟兄碰倒、才是好的。

凡使這些信我的微小者之一個絆跌的，就使一塊驢牽的磨石掛在他的脖子上，沉在海洋裏，對於他還有益。

所以你們或喫或喝，或作甚麼事，都要為上帝的榮耀而作。不拘對猶太人、對希利尼人、或對上帝的教會、你們都要不碰倒人才對；正如我一樣：我凡事都讓眾人喜歡，不逕求我自己的益處，只求多人的益處，使他們得救。

不是入口裏的能使人俗污；乃是從口裏出來的才能使人俗污。』

『凡事於我都可行』，但不都有益。『凡事於我都可行』，但我總不受任何事物的轄制。食物是為肚子，肚子也是為食物；但無論這個和那個，上帝都要廢掉。身體不是為淫亂，乃是為主的；主也是為身體的。

他們禁止嫁娶，禁戒食物，就是上帝所創造、給信徒和認識真理的人用感謝心享受的。上帝創造之物都是好的；用感謝心領受，沒有一樣是可棄的；因為藉着上帝的話語和人的祈求、已成聖別了。

其實食物並不能將我們舉薦與上帝：我們若不喫，無所虧損，喫也無所增益。不過要謹慎，免得你們這權利、竟成了軟弱人的碰腳物。倘若有人見你這「有知識的」在偶像廟裏坐席，他的良知若是軟弱，豈不是要「被建立起來！」去喫祭偶像之物麼？那軟弱的人、基督為他死的那弟兄、也就會因你的「知識」而失喪了！你們這樣犯罪害了弟兄、擊傷了他們的良知、便是犯罪敵對着基督了。所以食物若叫我的弟兄絆跌，我就永遠絕不喫肉，免得使我的弟兄絆跌。

因為我們乃是他所造之物，是在基督耶穌裏被創造，為行善事、就是上帝早已豫備好了、使我們行於其中的。

我深信那在你們身上開始了善工的、到基督耶穌的日子總必作成它。
