非入於口者之能污人、惟出於口者、斯污人已。』

『苟非犯罪、萬事皆可為之、』然亦有緩急輕重之分。『苟非犯罪、萬物皆可享之、』然亦不可令外物累吾之心、而使心為形役也。食為腹、腹為食；惟腹與食皆非永久之物、轉瞬天主即將使之朽污無遺矣。至於吾人之身、豈為縱淫恣慾而存乎？身為主也、主為身也、如是而已。

禁止嫁娶、戒絕某種食物；夫食物乃天主所造也、亦在具有信德、而身體真道者、感恩受之而已矣。蓋天主所造皆善、固無有一物可以暴棄也。惟受之者當飲水思源耳。憑天主之聖言、及吾人之祈禱、萬物皆成聖潔矣。

夫食物之事、亦焉能令吾人見悅於天主乎蓋不食不為損、食亦不為益也。惟爾其慎之、莫使爾之自由、成為弱者躓蹶之由。人若見爾有知者宴於偶像廟中、則無知者亦將背其良心而食祭餘之物矣。是則爾之有知、適足陷稚弱兄弟於淪亡；而基督固為之捨生矣。然則得罪於兄弟、傷害其脆弱之良心、直獲罪於基督耳。是故食物若為吾兄弟躓蹶之緣、吾寧永不食肉、而不敢為兄弟之厲階也。

即吾人本身亦莫非天主之化工、藉基督耶穌為行善而締造。然則吾人之行善、乃天主之成命耳。

主既以善工導爾於初、亦必有以成爾於終、以迨耶穌基督之日；
