夫官長之可懼、惟於犯罪作惡者為然。苟能守分安己、亦何懼之有？爾願不惴其權威乎？則宜行善。如此彼將賞爾之不暇、奚遑加爾以刑哉！

For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.

If you do what is right, you won’t need to be afraid of your rulers. But watch out if you do what is wrong! You don’t want to be afraid of those in authority, do you? Then do what is right, and you will be praised.

王的震怒好像獅子的吼叫；觸怒他的是自害己命。

“如果人與人之間有爭訟的事，就上法庭去；審判官審判他們的時候，要定義人有理，定惡人有罪；

如果掌權者向你發怒，你不要離開原位，因為柔順能免大過。在日光之下我看見一件憾事，好像是出於官長無意的錯誤，就是愚昧人得居眾多高位，富有的人卻處卑位。

明慧的臣僕，為王喜悅；貽羞的僕人，遭王震怒。

難道你是用香柏木爭勝來表明王的身分嗎？你父親不是也吃也喝，也施行公正和公義嗎？那時他得享福樂。他為困苦和貧窮人伸冤，那時他得享福樂。這不是認識我的真義嗎？”這是耶和華的宣告。“但你的眼你的心甚麼都不顧，只顧你的不義之財，只知流無辜人的血，施行欺壓和迫害的事。”因此，論到猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬，耶和華這樣說：“人必不為他哀傷，說：‘哀哉，我哥哥！’‘哀哉，我姊姊！’人必不為他哀傷，說：‘哀哉，主上！’‘哀哉，尊榮的王！’

你們為主的緣故，要順服人的一切制度，無論是至尊的君王，或是君王所派賞善罰惡的官員；

如果你們熱心行善，有誰能害你們呢？就算你們要為義受苦，也是有福的。“不要怕人的恐嚇，也不要畏懼。”

因為他是神的僕役，是對你有益的。但如果你作惡，就應當懼怕；因為他佩劍，不是沒有作用的。他是神的僕役，是向作惡的人施行刑罰的。
