Because they disregarded the righteousness from God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted themselves to God’s righteousness.

蓋不識上帝之義、而求立己之義、故不服上帝之義也、

其不識上帝稱義之道、惟一已行義是賴、不服上帝稱義之道、

蓋彼不識天主之義、而欲立己之義、故未服天主之義、

蓋既昧於天主之義、故惟求自立其義、而不服膺天主之義矣。

Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

They didn’t know that God’s power makes people right with himself. They tried to get right with God in their own way. They didn’t do it in God’s way.

For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.

Since they are ignorant of the righteousness of God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God’s righteousness.

For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

And He told them:“ You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God’s sight.

and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ— the righteousness from God based on faith.

Because you say,‘ I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,’ and you don’t know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked,I advise you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see.

He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else:“ Two men went up to the temple complex to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee took his stand and was praying like this:‘ God, I thank You that I’m not like other people— greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.’

For in it God’s righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.

But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

I will expose your righteousness, and your works— they will not profit you.

and I acted with hostility toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies— and if their uncircumcised hearts will be humbled, and if they will pay the penalty for their sin,

For just as through one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

For the moth will devour them like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool. But My righteousness will last forever, and My salvation for all generations.

— that is, God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe, since there is no distinction.

All of us have become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment; all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind.

This is what the Lord says: Preserve justice and do what is right, for My salvation is coming soon, and My righteousness will be revealed.

Your righteousness reaches heaven, God, You who have done great things; God, who is like You?

You are righteous concerning all that has come on us, because You have acted faithfully, while we have acted wickedly.

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end.

He will look at men and say,“ I have sinned and perverted what was right; yet I did not get what I deserved.

About sin, because they do not believe in Me;about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me;

What should we say then? He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.The son said to him,‘ Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I’m no longer worthy to be called your son.’

Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city— to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin, to wipe away iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.

Look up to the heavens, and look at the earth beneath; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and its inhabitants will die like gnats. But My salvation will last forever, and My righteousness will never be shattered.

My mouth will tell about Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up.I come because of the mighty acts of the Lord God; I will proclaim Your righteousness, Yours alone.

Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to keep the entire law.You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace.

We have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, fathers, and all the people of the land.Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but this day public shame belongs to us: the men of Judah, the residents of Jerusalem, and all Israel— those who are near and those who are far, in all the countries where You have dispersed them because of the disloyalty they have shown toward You.Lord, public shame belongs to us, our kings, our leaders, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.Compassion and forgiveness belong to the Lord our God, though we have rebelled against Him

“ The days are coming”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ when I will raise up a Righteous Branch of David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the land.In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is what He will be named: Yahweh Our Righteousness.
