忍棄永生者天主之真榮、而易以必朽者人類禽獸蛇蟲之偶像。

如此將他們榮耀的主換為吃草之牛的像，

豈有一國換了他的神嗎？其實這不是神！但我的百姓將他們的榮耀換了那無益的神。

他們將神的真實變為虛謊，去敬拜事奉受造之物，不敬奉那造物的主－主乃是可稱頌的，直到永遠。阿們！

我們既是神所生的，就不當以為神的神性像人用手藝、心思所雕刻的金、銀、石。

我進去一看，誰知，在四面牆上畫着各樣爬物和可憎的走獸，並以色列家一切的偶像。

有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞，有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，有喉嚨也不能出聲。造他的要和他一樣；凡靠他的也要如此。

你們作外邦人的時候，隨事被牽引，受迷惑，去服事那啞巴偶像，這是你們知道的。

「『不可為自己雕刻偶像，也不可做甚麼形像，彷彿上天、下地和地底下、水中的百物。

「所以，你們要分外謹慎；因為耶和華在何烈山、從火中對你們說話的那日，你們沒有看見甚麼形像。惟恐你們敗壞自己，雕刻偶像，彷彿甚麼男像女像，或地上走獸的像，或空中飛鳥的像，或地上爬物的像，或地底下水中魚的像。

你們究竟將誰比神，用甚麼形像與神比較呢？

你們向上舉目，看誰創造這萬象，按數目領出，他一一稱其名；因他的權能，又因他的大能大力，連一個都不缺。

因為往日隨從外邦人的心意行邪淫、惡慾、醉酒、荒宴、羣飲，並可惡拜偶像的事，時候已經夠了。

木匠拉線，用筆劃出樣子，用鉋子鉋成形狀，用圓尺劃了模樣，仿照人的體態，做成人形，好住在房屋中。

外邦的偶像是金的，銀的，是人手所造的；有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息。造他的要和他一樣，凡靠他的也要如此。

其餘未曾被這些災所殺的人仍舊不悔改自己手所做的，還是去拜鬼魔和那些不能看、不能聽、不能走，金、銀、銅、木、石的偶像，
