忍棄永生者天主之真榮、而易以必朽者人類禽獸蛇蟲之偶像。

这样，他们用吃草的牛的像，代替了他们的荣耀的神。

有哪一国把自己的神换掉呢？其实那些并不是神。我的子民竟把他们的荣耀，换了无益的偶像。

他们用虚谎取代了神的真理，敬拜事奉受造之物，却不敬拜事奉造物的主。他是永远可称颂的，阿们。

我们既然是神的子孙，就不应该以为他的神性是好像人用手艺、心思所雕刻的金银石头一样。

于是我进去观看，见四围的墙上刻着各种形状的爬行的动物，和可憎恶的走兽，以及以色列家所有的偶像。

它们有口，却不能说话；有眼，却不能看；有耳，却不能听；有鼻，却不能闻；有手，却不能摸；有脚，却不能行；也不能用喉咙发声。做偶像的必和偶像一样；凡是倚靠它们的，都必这样。

你们知道，你们还是教外人的时候，总是受迷惑被引诱，去拜那不能说话的偶像。

“‘你不可为自己做偶像，也不可做天上、地下和地底下水中各物的形象。

“所以你们要特别小心，谨慎自己，因为耶和华在何烈山从火中对你们说话的那一天，你们没有看见什么形象；恐怕你们败坏自己，为自己制造偶像，制造任何神像的形象，无论是男像或是女像，或是地上各种走兽的像，或是飞翔在空中各类有翅膀的雀鸟的像，或是地上各种爬行的动物的像，或是地底下水里各样鱼类的像。

你们把谁来跟神相比呢？你们用什么形象来与神并列呢？

你们向天举目吧！看是谁创造了这些万象？是谁按着数目把万象领出来，一一指名呼唤？因他的大能大力，连一个也不缺少。

因为你们过去随从教外人的心意，行邪淫、私欲、醉酒、荒宴、狂饮和可憎拜偶像的事，时候已经够了。

木匠拉线，用笔画出轮廓，用刨子刨平，用圆规画出模样，做成人的形状，有人一般的美丽，好住在庙里。

列国的偶像是金的银的，是人手所做的。有口却不能说话，有眼却不能看，有耳却不能听，口中也没有气息。做偶像的必和它们一样，所有倚靠它们的也必这样。

其余没有在这些灾难中被杀的人，仍然不为他们手所作的悔改，还是去拜鬼魔和那些金、银、铜、石头、木头做的，不能看、不能听、也不能走路的偶像。
