耶路撒冷啊，喚醒自己，喚醒自己，站起來吧！你從耶和華手中喝了他怒火之杯，喝盡了那使人踉蹌的杯盞。你所生的眾子中，沒有一個人帶領你；你養大的眾子中，沒有一個人緊拉著你的手。毀壞與破敗，饑荒與刀劍，這兩組事情已經臨到你，誰會為你悲哀呢？誰會安慰你呢？你的眾子發昏，在各個街頭躺臥，好像羚羊在網羅之中；他們飽嘗了耶和華的怒火，你神的斥責。因此，你這困苦的、非因酒而醉的，要聽這話！你的主耶和華，為子民辯屈的神如此說：「看哪！我已經從你手中拿走了使人踉蹌的杯，就是我怒火的杯盞，你絕不會再喝它了。我要把它放在那些折磨你的人手中；他們曾對你說：『趴下，讓我們踩著你過去！』你就把自己的背當作地面、當作街道，任人踩著過去。」

我要使欺負你的人吃他們自己的肉；他們必醉飲自己的血，如同醉飲甜酒。那時，一切有血肉的就都知道：我是耶和華，是你的拯救者，是你的救贖主，是雅各的大能者。」

在她的額上寫著一個奧祕的名號：「大巴比倫，地上的淫婦們和可憎之物的母親。」

說：「有禍了！有禍了！宏大的城，那曾身穿細麻、紫色、深紅色衣服，以金子、寶石、珍珠為裝飾的城啊！這麼多的財富，竟然在一時之間就化為烏有了！」所有的船長、所有到處航行的人、水手們、所有靠海為業的人，都遠遠地站著。他們看著焚燒她時的煙，呼喊說：「哪一個城能與這大城相比呢？」他們把塵土撒在自己頭上，哭泣、悲傷，呼喊說：「有禍了！有禍了！宏大的城，所有靠著她在海上有船隻的人都因她的財富發了財。她竟然在一時之間就化為烏有了！

另一位天使，就是第二位天使跟著說：「倒塌了！大巴比倫倒塌了！她給萬國喝了她淫亂憤怒的酒。」另一位天使，就是第三位天使，跟著他們大聲說：「如果有人膜拜那獸和獸像，並在自己額上或手上接受印記，就要喝神憤怒的酒，就是混合在神震怒之杯中那沒有稀釋的酒。他將要在聖天使們面前、羔羊面前，在烈火和硫磺中受折磨。

他用強有力的聲音呼喊說：「倒塌了！大巴比倫倒塌了！她成了鬼魔居住的地方、一切汙靈的巢穴、一切汙穢鳥類的巢穴、一切汙穢可憎野獸的巢穴。
