我來有如不速之客。人能恆自警惕、守其所服、毋使赤身露體、自彰其醜、斯為有福。

主曰、我必襲爾、如盜猝至、當儆醒守厥衣服、以免裸裎、庶無愧怍、得蒙福祉、

緣此、爾宜朝乾夕惕；蓋爾不知爾主蒞臨之日也。若家主知盜何時將至、則必儆醒守備、不令穴室。

吾勸爾向我購置百煉之金、俾成真富；純白之衣、用掩爾羞；傅目之膏、以啟爾視。

雖然、主日之臨、必突如其來、有若不速之客焉。當時諸天訇然而逝、物質之元素、溶解於烈火之中。大地及所載之萬彙、悉皆焚化。

雅不欲赤身露體、而無所被服也。

爾當朝乾夕惕、恆自惺惺、以爾不知其時故。猶人離鄉遠遊、授僕以權、分工治事、並戒司閽守望弗懈、是宜儆醒、因爾不知主來何時、恐於黃昏深夜、恐當雞鳴日出、突然駕返、見爾之睡也。予語爾者、亦以語眾、胥宜小心翼翼。』

應回憶所受所聞之教義拳拳服膺、而痛悔前失。如再不醒寤、吾必襲爾、猶不速之客突如其來、爾固無從逆知其時刻也。雖然、在爾撒爾底亦頗有若干人涅而不緇、迄今未汙其服；若輩當得身被道袍、而從我遊矣。

爾固明知主日之臨、突如其來。有如不速之客之夜襲也。人方曰：「平安無虞、」而倏忽之間、大難已臨其身、正如臨蓐之婦、欲避分娩之苦、未由也已。

是故爾等當小心翼翼、朝乾夕惕；其日與時、非爾所知也。

是宜恆懷警惕、念我三年來不舍晝夜含淚訓爾之情。

故吾人不欲效世人之醉生夢死、常宜昭昭惺惺、淡泊有節。

宜儆守祈禱、庶免陷於外誘；心志誠毅、形驅則餒。』

是故爾宜朝乾夕惕、虛靈不寐、恆自祈禱、庶得倖免將臨諸患、而立於人子之前。』

萬物之終局、已日近一日、爾其朝乾夕惕、儆醒祈禱。

宜警惕祈禱、庶免墮誘；心志雖堅、形軀實荏。』

主至、見僕儆醒、斯僕福矣。予實語爾、主且酬以盛筵、躬自束帶而供役矣。倘至二更或三更始歸、而見其僕如此、福哉僕乎。爾其識之、家主苟知盜之何時來臨、必自戒備、不聽穿窬。爾等亦宜恆自警惕。蓋人子來臨、每在不意之時也。』伯鐸祿曰：『主設此喻、為吾儕乎？抑為眾人乎？』主曰：『以爾度之、孰為忠敏之家宰、主可賦予職權、督理眾役、而能按時授糧者？當主之歸、見其克盡厥職、斯僕福矣。
