既啟壑騰煙如洪爐、上蔽日光、穹蒼晦冥；

而本國之子民、轉見投於無明之絕域；將有痛哭切齒者焉。』

世之眾賈亦當哀哀而哭之；蓋誰復購其貨物乎？其貨有金銀珠寶、細紵紫絳、錦緞緋布、又有各種香木象牙、珍貴木器、銅器、鐵器、玉器、以及肉桂香料、香膏、乳香、與酒油、麵粉、小麥、牛羊車馬、乃至人之身體靈魂、亦供其營業。巴比倫乎、爾向所貪戀繁華之果、今已蕩然無存；雖欲覓之、亦不可得矣。諸貨之商賈賴彼而致富者、懼禍之及己、乃遙立而哀泣曰：「哀哉大邑、昔以純紵紫絳為衣、金玉珠璣為飾；頃刻之間、而絕世繁華頓成荒涼！」舟長舟子、凡以航海為業、依水營生者、亦相與遙立、共對大火而驚呼曰：「天下萬城、誰堪比之。」乃以塵蒙首、號咷而大哭曰：「哀哉大邑、曩日舟人皆潤其豐饒而致富有；頃刻之間、乃遭斯極耶！」

投之洪爐、必有哀哭切齒者焉。

大聲而呼曰：傾矣乎！傾矣乎！巍巍巴比倫！昔為大都邑、今成魑魅村；邪神聚幽藪、惡鳥集荒榛。

投諸洪爐、將有哀哭切齒者焉。

當是時、世人咸將手舞足蹈以慶其亡、各備禮物、互相忻賀；蓋二先知曾痛懲斯世之人也。

王乃謂侍者曰：「縛其手足、投之幽獄、必有哀哭切齒者矣。」

敬眾人、愛同道、寅畏天主、尊重君王。

必加以極刑、與虛偽之徒同科；將有哀哭切齒者焉。』

厥怒奮揚。厥氣震烈。降災無算。百神施罰。

時有一大力天神、舉一狀若大磨之石、而投諸海曰：大邑巴比倫、被投如此石；猝然遭傾覆、淪沒無蹤跡。

屍暴大邑通衢、斯邑可譬稱為索多瑪與埃及、即二證所奉之主、亦曾被釘死於此。

煜煜燈燭光、不復照此邑；無復新婚者、在此敘歡密；祇緣諸偉人、與爾相貿易；巫術惑元元、

凡此皆天主為促成聖謨、而使若輩一致讓國與獸、以待天主之言之圓滿見驗耳。

此中有妙義焉：七首者、即此婦所坐鎮之七山、

至聖殿外院、可置之勿量；蓋外院已歸外邦人、彼且蹂躪聖城、凡四十有二月。

爾見亞伯漢依灑格雅谷伯及眾先知皆在天主國中、惟爾見擯於外、則必哀哭切齒矣。

此獸望之若豹、其足若熊、其口若獅；龍以己之權位威力授之。吾見其一首似已中傷瀕死、後竟醫治獲愈；普世奇之、翕然風從。人見龍之以權授獸、故拜龍兼拜獸曰：「猗歟盛哉、獸之為德！舉世無雙、天下無敵！」
