你看見的這怪獸以前出現過，現今沒有出現，將來要從無底坑上來，然後走向滅亡。那些住在地上、自創世以來名字沒有記在生命冊上的人，都因見到這只從前出現過、現今沒有出現、將來會再出現的怪獸而感到驚奇。

牠在頭一隻怪獸面前獲准行奇蹟，欺騙了普世的人，並吩咐他們為受了刀傷卻仍然活著的頭一隻怪獸塑像。

他們一致同意把自己所有的能力和權柄交給那怪獸。

因為上帝使眾王定意這樣做，好完成祂的旨意。他們便同心將政權交給那怪獸，直到上帝的話得到實現。

我又看見一隻怪獸從海中上來，有七頭十角，每隻角上都戴著一個冠冕，每個頭上都寫著褻瀆上帝的名號。牠看起來像豹，卻有熊的腳和獅子的口。巨龍將自己的能力、王位和大權柄都交給了怪獸。

在頭一隻怪獸面前行使頭一隻怪獸的一切權柄。牠命令世上的人拜曾受了致命傷但已復原的頭一隻怪獸，

無論貴賤，眾人都聽從他，稱他為「上帝的大能者」。他們聽從他，因為他長期用邪術迷惑他們。

我要使巴比倫王的臂膀強壯有力，把我的刀交在他手中。我要打斷法老的臂膀，使法老在他面前像受了致命傷的人一樣呻吟。

其中五個已經衰亡，一個還在，另外一個還未來到，他來後只能短暫存留。

他來要按照撒旦的伎倆行各樣虛假的異能、神蹟和奇事，用盡各樣詭計欺騙那些將要滅亡的人，因為他們不喜歡接受那能拯救他們的真理。上帝就讓他們是非不辨，去相信那些虛假的謊言，使一切不相信真理、反喜愛不義的人都被定罪。

西門本人也信了基督，接受了洗禮，並常常追隨腓利左右。腓利所行的神蹟奇事令他非常驚奇。

我又見她醉了，因她喝了眾聖徒的血，就是為耶穌做見證之人的血。我看見她，非常驚奇。

法利賽人彼此議論說：「我們真是枉費心思！你看，整個世界都跟著祂跑了。」

那時，凱撒奧古斯都頒下諭旨，命羅馬帝國的人民都辦理戶口登記。
