这时天上出现了另一个奇异的景象：有一条红色巨龙出现，它有七头十角，每个头上都戴着冠冕。

那时，我被圣灵感动，被天使带到旷野，在那里见到一个妇人骑着一只朱红色的怪兽。怪兽有七头十角，浑身写满亵渎上帝的名号。

当他们做完见证以后，从无底坑上来的兽要和他们交战，并战胜他们，把他们杀掉。

“那位侍立一旁的说，‘第四只兽是指世上将兴起的第四个国，与其他各国不同，它将吞吃、践踏、咬碎天下。十角是指这国中将兴起十个王，后来又兴起一王，与先前的王不同，他将制服三个王。他必亵渎至高者，迫害至高者的圣民，试图改变节期和律法。圣民将被交在他手中三年半。

“北方王必任意妄为，自高自大，自以为超越一切神明，肆意诋毁万神之神。他必亨通，一直到上帝发烈怒的日子结束。因为所定的必然成就。

但以理说：“我在夜间的异象中看见天风四面吹来，搅动大海。接着，四只巨兽从海中上来，各有不同的形状。

此后，我在夜间的异象中看见第四只兽，恐怖可怕，极其强壮，用大铁牙吞吃、咬碎猎物，用脚践踏所剩的。这兽与前三只兽不同，它有十个角。我观看这些角时，见其中长出一个小角，先前的角中有三个被连根拔出，让它取而代之。这小角有人的眼睛和说狂言的口。

怪兽和它头上的十角必憎恨那淫妇，使她赤身露体、景况凄凉。它们要吃她的肉，最后用火将她烧尽。

“那时，我想知道关于第四兽的事，它与其余三兽不同，极其可怕，有铁牙铜爪，吞吃、咬碎猎物，用脚践踏所剩的。我也想知道有关它头上的十角及后来长出的小角的事。这小角取代了三角，它有眼和说狂言的口，比其他的角更强大。

天使对我说：“你为什么这样惊奇呢？我要将这妇人和她骑的七头十角怪兽的奥秘告诉你。你看见的这怪兽以前出现过，现今没有出现，将来要从无底坑上来，然后走向灭亡。那些住在地上、自创世以来名字没有记在生命册上的人，都因见到这只从前出现过、现今没有出现、将来会再出现的怪兽而感到惊奇。这里需要智慧才能明白，它的七个头代表那妇人坐镇的七座山，又代表七个王。其中五个已经衰亡，一个还在，另外一个还未来到，他来后只能短暂存留。那从前出现过、现今没有出现的怪兽是第八个王，他是七个王之一，也要走向灭亡。你看见的那十个角象征另外十个还没有得势的王，他们将取得王权和那怪兽一同统治短暂的一段时期。

我看见一个好像夹杂着火的玻璃海，玻璃海上站着那些战胜怪兽、兽像及兽名代号的人。他们手里拿着上帝所赐的竖琴，

难道你们不敬畏我吗？这是耶和华说的。难道你们在我面前不颤抖吗？我以沙石为海的界限，使水永远不能越过它。汹涌的波涛不能逾越，澎湃的海浪不能漫过。

巨龙又使怪兽说狂妄、亵渎的话，并给它权柄，可以任意妄为四十二个月。怪兽开口亵渎上帝的名、上帝的居所和一切居住在天上的。

不管别人用什么诡计，你们都不要上当。因为那日子来临之前，必有离经叛道的事发生，而那不法之徒，就是那注定灭亡的人也要出现。他会抵挡主，高抬自己超过一切所谓的神明和人们崇拜的对象，甚至坐在上帝的殿中以上帝自居！

在她额上还写了一个神秘的名号：“大巴比伦——地上淫妇及可憎事物之母”。
