I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

I, John, am a believer like you. I am a friend who suffers like you. As members of Jesus’ royal family, we can put up with anything that happens to us. I was on the island of Patmos because I taught God’s word and what Jesus said.

I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus.

堅門徒心、勸其恆信、又言我儕欲入天主國、必歷多難、

我以此告爾、為使爾因我而安、在世爾必遇患難、然爾毋懼、我已勝世矣、

約翰以天主之道、及耶穌基督之證、凡其所見者、皆為之作證焉、

時將至、舉世有患難、以試天下之人、爾既守我忍耐之道、我必護庇爾、免於彼時之試煉、

雖然、爾供我於患難時、善矣、

若所望尚未得、則忍以待之、

凡擄人者亦見擄、以刃殺人者亦被刃殺、聖徒之恆忍與信在此矣、○

諸兄弟不貪生而冒死、賴羔之血、及所證之道而勝之、

守天主誡、及信耶穌道之聖徒、因此恆忍、或作聖徒之恆忍在此矣彼守天主之誡及耶穌之道

故爾勿以證天主之道為恥、亦勿以我因主被囚為恥、當賴天主之能、為福音與我共受苦、

我為爾曹如此懷念、宜也、我在縲絏中、心常念爾、我明辯質證福音之時亦然、以爾與我共蒙恩寵也、

既為子則為嗣、即天主之嗣、與基督同為嗣、我儕若與之同苦、亦必與之同榮、○

既啟第五印、我見祭臺下、有為天主之道、及為所證之證被殺者之魂、

對曰、我主自知之、曰、彼經歷大難而來、曾以羔之血滌其衣、而衣潔白、

作證既畢、自大淵而上之獸、將與之戰、勝而殺之、

爾須忍耐、使爾能行天主之旨、可得所許者、

我知爾之作為、爾之患難、爾之窮乏、而實富有、自稱為猶太人、實非猶太人、乃屬撒但會者、其謗言我亦知之、爾必受苦、惟勿懼、魔將以爾數人投於獄、致爾被試、爾將受難十日、當盡忠至死、我必賜爾永生之冠冕、

爾受諸窘逐患難、而於其中仍存忍與信、故我儕在天主諸教會中為爾而誇、此乃彰顯天主鞫人之公義、使爾曹今為天主之國受苦難、後必堪入其國、

我思天主、使我儕使徒、身居微末、如擬死之囚、如場上戲劇、為世界與天使及眾人所觀、我儕因基督而愚、爾曹信基督而智、我儕弱、爾曹強、爾曹尊、我儕卑、至於今、我儕饑渴、裸身、受撻、靡有定處、且勞苦、親手操作、被詬詈則祝、被窘逐則忍、被謗則勸、人視我若世之污穢、物之塵垢、以至於今、○

兄弟乎、爾當恆忍、以待主降臨、試觀農夫、望得地之嘉產、忍耐以待、待得前後之雨、爾亦當恆忍、堅固爾心、蓋主之降臨伊邇、

約翰書達亞西亞七教會、願爾曹由昔在今在後在者、與其寶座前之七神、

凡恆於行善、求尊榮及無壞者、則報以永生、凡違逆不順真理而行不義者、則報以忿怒、

願主導爾心能愛天主、信信或作效基督而有忍耐、○

不第此也、亦以患難為樂、以患難為樂或作因患難而誇因知患難生忍耐、忍耐生練達、練達生希望、

龍怒婦、乃往與婦之餘子戰、即守天主誡、為耶穌基督作證者、

爾當忍苦、如耶穌基督之勁卒、凡為卒者、不以世務纏身、致可見悅於募之者、角力者、若不循規矩、則不得冠冕、勤勞之農、先得物產、宜也、我所言爾當思之、願主賜爾明於萬事、當憶耶穌基督由死復活、乃大衛之裔循我之福音、或作當憶大衛之裔耶穌基督循我之福音由死復活我為此福音受苦、至於見繫如犯法者、但天主之道、不能見繫、故我為蒙選者忍受諸難、使彼亦因基督耶穌得救、並得永存之榮、有一言可信者、我儕若與基督同死、亦必與基督同生、若同受難、亦必同王、我若不認彼、彼必不認我、

我遂俯伏於其足前、欲拜之、彼謂我曰、不可、我與爾、並與爾諸兄弟、即為耶穌作證者、同為僕、爾當崇拜天主、蓋感先知之神、亦感為耶穌作證之人、○
