For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said,‘ It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’

四十年之久，我厌烦那世代，说：“这是心里迷糊的百姓，竟不晓得我的作为！”

四十年之久，我厌烦那世代，说：“这是心里迷糊的百姓，竟不知道我的道路！”

四十年之久，我厌烦那世代，说：“这是心里迷糊的百姓，竟不知道我的道路！”

所以，我憎恶他们四十年之久，我说，‘他们偏离正路，不遵行我的命令。’

四十年之久，我厌恶那个世代的人；我曾说：“他们是心里迷误的人民，不认识我的道路。”

四十年之久，我厌恶了那世代，我说：‘他们是心里迷失的子民，他们不认识我的道路。’

四十年之久，我厭煩那世代，說：這是心裏迷糊的百姓，竟不曉得我的作為！

四十年之久，我厭煩那世代，說：「這是心裏迷糊的百姓，竟不知道我的道路！」

四十年之久，我厭煩那世代，說：「這是心裏迷糊的百姓，竟不知道我的道路！」

所以，我憎惡他們四十年之久，我說，『他們偏離正路，不遵行我的命令。』

四十年之久，我厭惡那個世代的人；我曾說：“他們是心裡迷誤的人民，不認識我的道路。”

四十年之久我討厭那世代，說：『這是心裏迷糊的人民，不曉得我所行的；』

四十年之久，我厭惡了那世代，我說：『他們是心裡迷失的子民，他們不認識我的道路。』

歷年四十、我厭此代曰、斯民心迷、未識我途兮、

歷四十載、我憾當時之人曰、厥心常迷、不識余途兮。

彼世代四十年間、激我厭惡、我曰、彼乃心中偏邪之民、不明我道、

心厭彼逆。垂四十春。中心懷邪。天理不明。

For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said,‘ They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.’

For 40 years I was angry with them. I said,‘ Their hearts are always going astray. They do not know how I want them to live.’

For forty years I loathed that generation and said,“ They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.”

For forty years I was angry with them, and I said,‘ They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’

For forty years I was disgusted with that generation; I said,“ They are a people whose hearts go astray; they do not know my ways.”

For forty years I was disgusted with that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways.

Forty years long was I grieved with that generation, And said, It is a people that do err in their heart, And they have not known my ways:

For 40 years I was disgusted with that generation; I said,“ They are a people whose hearts go astray; they do not know My ways.”

Forty years long was I grieved with[ this] generation, and said, It[ is] a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said,‘ These people desire to go astray; they do not obey my commands.’

Forty long years I was grieved with that generation, and said,“ It is a people that errs in their heart. They have not known my ways.”

Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness?

He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

“ How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke,I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes,When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.“ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord,

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said,‘ They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

Your dwelling place is in the midst of deceit; Through deceit they refuse to know Me,” says the Lord.

So the LORD’s anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone.

Now it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the Lord had given him as commandments to them,

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp until they were consumed.“ So it was, when all the men of war had finally perished from among the people,

O Lord, why have You made us stray from Your ways, And hardened our heart from Your fear? Return for Your servants’ sake, The tribes of Your inheritance.

And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

Now for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness.

And your sons shall be shepherds in the wilderness forty years, and bear the brunt of your infidelity, until your carcasses are consumed in the wilderness.According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
