For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said,‘ These people desire to go astray; they do not obey my commands.’

所以，我憎恶他们四十年之久，我说，‘他们偏离正路，不遵行我的命令。’

四十年之久，我厌恶那个世代的人；我曾说：“他们是心里迷误的人民，不认识我的道路。”

四十年之久，我厌恶了那世代，我说：‘他们是心里迷失的子民，他们不认识我的道路。’

四十年之久，我厭煩那世代，說：這是心裏迷糊的百姓，竟不曉得我的作為！

四十年之久，我厭煩那世代，說：「這是心裏迷糊的百姓，竟不知道我的道路！」

四十年之久，我厭煩那世代，說：「這是心裏迷糊的百姓，竟不知道我的道路！」

所以，我憎惡他們四十年之久，我說，『他們偏離正路，不遵行我的命令。』

四十年之久，我厭惡那個世代的人；我曾說：“他們是心裡迷誤的人民，不認識我的道路。”

四十年之久我討厭那世代，說：『這是心裏迷糊的人民，不曉得我所行的；』

四十年之久，我厭惡了那世代，我說：『他們是心裡迷失的子民，他們不認識我的道路。』

歷年四十、我厭此代曰、斯民心迷、未識我途兮、

歷四十載、我憾當時之人曰、厥心常迷、不識余途兮。

彼世代四十年間、激我厭惡、我曰、彼乃心中偏邪之民、不明我道、

心厭彼逆。垂四十春。中心懷邪。天理不明。

For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said,‘ They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.’

For 40 years I was angry with them. I said,‘ Their hearts are always going astray. They do not know how I want them to live.’

For forty years I loathed that generation and said,“ They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.”

For forty years I was angry with them, and I said,‘ They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’

For forty years I was disgusted with that generation; I said,“ They are a people whose hearts go astray; they do not know my ways.”

For forty years I was disgusted with that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways.

For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said,‘ It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’

Forty years long was I grieved with that generation, And said, It is a people that do err in their heart, And they have not known my ways:

For 40 years I was disgusted with that generation; I said,“ They are a people whose hearts go astray; they do not know My ways.”

Forty years long was I grieved with[ this] generation, and said, It[ is] a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

Forty long years I was grieved with that generation, and said,“ It is a people that errs in their heart. They have not known my ways.”

And against whom was God provoked for forty years? Was it not those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?

This man led them out, performing wonders and miraculous signs in the land of Egypt, at the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.

“ How long will you simpletons love naiveté? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?If only you will respond to my rebuke, then I will pour out my thoughts to you and I will make my words known to you.However, because I called but you refused to listen, because I stretched out my hand but no one paid attention,because you neglected all my advice, and did not comply with my rebuke,so I myself will laugh when disaster strikes you, I will mock when what you dread comes,when what you dread comes like a whirlwind, and disaster strikes you like a devastating storm, when distressing trouble comes on you.Then they will call to me, but I will not answer; they will diligently seek me, but they will not find me.Because they hated moral knowledge, and did not choose to fear the LORD,

Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.

“ There your fathers tested me and tried me, and they saw my works for forty years.“ Therefore, I became provoked at that generation and said,‘ Their hearts are always wandering and they have not known my ways.’

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done.

They do one act of violence after another, and one deceitful thing after another. They refuse to pay attention to me,” says the LORD.

So the LORD’s anger was kindled against the Israelites, and he made them wander in the wilderness for forty years, until all that generation that had done wickedly before the LORD was finished.

However, it was not until the first day of the eleventh month of the fortieth year that Moses addressed the Israelites just as the LORD had instructed him to do.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.Indeed, it was the very hand of the LORD that eliminated them from within the camp until they were all gone.So it was that after all the military men had been eliminated from the community,

Why, LORD, do you make us stray from your ways, and make our minds stubborn so that we do not obey you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance!

The LORD regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and he was highly offended.

For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness.

and your children will wander in the wilderness forty years and suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your dead bodies lie finished in the wilderness.According to the number of the days you have investigated this land, forty days– one day for a year– you will suffer for your iniquities, forty years, and you will know what it means to thwart me.

Fearing the LORD is the beginning of moral knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
