But you, Lord, are forever exalted.

Then they will learn that you alone are called the Lord, that you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth.

I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are boldly attacking me.

I know now that the Lord is greater than all other gods, because he rescued his people from the oppression of the proud Egyptians.”

About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church.

They will perish, but you remain forever; they will wear out like old clothing. You will change them like a garment and discard them.But you are always the same; you will live forever.

But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore— the Lord above is mightier than these!

Don’t be surprised if you see a poor person being oppressed by the powerful and if justice is being miscarried throughout the land. For every official is under orders from higher up, and matters of justice get lost in red tape and bureaucracy.

“ After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him,‘ What do you mean by doing these things?’

The people gave him a great ovation, shouting,“ It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!”Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers.
