But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

Therefore thus says the Lord God:“ Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame;behold, my servants shall sing for gladness of heart, but you shall cry out for pain of heart and shall wail for breaking of spirit.

You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,

Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for God has given judgment for you against her!”

So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

“ Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice with her in joy, all you who mourn over her;that you may nurse and be satisfied from her consoling breast; that you may drink deeply with delight from her glorious abundance.”

For thus says the Lord:“ Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say,‘ O Lord, save your people, the remnant of Israel.’

Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!The Lord has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared away your enemies. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall never again fear evil.On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:“ Fear not, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak.

Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children.

They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

For the Lord has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him.They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more.Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.

Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say,“ Amen!” Praise the Lord!

The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands.

Let the righteous one rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult!

May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.

May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.Strangers shall stand and tend your flocks; foreigners shall be your plowmen and vinedressers;but you shall be called the priests of the Lord; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.Their offspring shall be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed.I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.
