For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.Of the increase of[ his] government and peace[ there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;And declared[ to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.

Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and[ men] shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead,[ now] no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.Wherefore he saith also in another[ psalm], Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David’s son?And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken[ it]: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
