God, the proud have risen up against me. A company of violent men have sought after my soul, and they don’t hold regard for you before them.

上帝歟、驕傲之輩、起而攻我、強暴之黨、索我之命、目中無爾兮、

上帝兮、驕矜之輩、起而叛余、強悍之黨、謀害我命、彼不敬畏爾兮。

天主歟、驕傲之人、群起攻擊我、強橫之黨類、欲索我命、彼皆目中無天主、

驕人悻悻。逞其狂傲。群逆結黨。恣其凶暴。目中無主。哀哉不肖。

Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me— they have no regard for you.

God, proud people are attacking me. A gang of mean people is trying to kill me. They don’t care about you.

O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them.

O God, insolent people rise up against me; a violent gang is trying to kill me. You mean nothing to them.

God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men intends to kill me. They do not let you guide them.

God, arrogant men have risen up against me, And a gang of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set You before them.

O God, the proud have risen against me, And a mob of violent men have sought my life, And have not set You before them.

O God, the proud are risen up against me, And a company of violent men have sought after my soul, And have not set thee before them.

God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men seeks my life. They have no regard for You.

O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent[ men] have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.

O God, arrogant men attack me; a gang of ruthless men, who do not respect you, seek my life.

For strangers have risen up against me. Violent men have sought after my soul. They haven’t set God before them. Selah.

The proud have dug pits for me, contrary to your law.

Don’t let the foot of pride come against me. Don’t let the hand of the wicked drive me away.

He says in his heart,“ God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.”

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel,“ Give your counsel what we shall do.”Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Go in to your father’s concubines that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”So they spread a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the inner sanctuary of God. All the counsel of Ahithophel both was like this with David and with Absalom.Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David tonight.

Why does the wicked person condemn God, and say in his heart,“ God won’t call me into account?”

A revelation is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked:“ There is no fear of God before his eyes.”

Absalom and all the men of Israel said,“ The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For Yahweh had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Yahweh might bring evil on Absalom.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and don’t call on Yahweh?

The arrogant mock me excessively, but I don’t swerve from your law.

Then he said to me,“ Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say,‘ Yahweh doesn’t see us. Yahweh has forsaken the land.’”

Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him.

After this, Absalom prepared a chariot and horses for himself, and fifty men to run before him.Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate. When any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said,“ What city are you from?” He said,“ Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.”Absalom said to him,“ Behold, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized by the king to hear you.”Absalom said moreover,“ Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”It was so, that when any man came near to bow down to him, he stretched out his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him.Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.At the end of forty years, Absalom said to the king,“ Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Yahweh, in Hebron.For your servant vowed a vow while I stayed at Geshur in Syria, saying,‘ If Yahweh shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Yahweh.’”The king said to him,“ Go in peace.” So he arose, and went to Hebron.But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron!’”Two hundred men went with Absalom out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they didn’t know anything.Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.

“ For truly, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed,to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.

The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.

The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. Selah.

Then he said to me,“ The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion; for they say,‘ Yahweh has forsaken the land, and Yahweh doesn’t see.’

The proud have smeared a lie upon me. With my whole heart, I will keep your precepts.
