Of what importance is the human race, that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, that you should pay attention to them,

what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?

何物渺渺身。乃蒙主垂青。何物塵世子。乃蒙主關心。

惟古人已先我言之：『人處天地間、碌碌無所長；乃蒙主拔擢、聖眷異尋常；天神相伯仲、冠冕獨堂皇；統轄受造物、樂此無盡藏。』是知天主已將天地萬有、交其掌管、而絕無例外也。惟此事至今尚未實現；今所見者、乃耶穌降生為人時、本輸天神一籌、俾藉天主之聖寵、為普世生靈親嘗死亡之味；及其既死、則已冠以光榮尊貴之冕矣。

耶穌對曰：『狐有丘、鳥有巢、人子獨無枕首地。』

呼籲公明主。為我伸冤屈。昔曾出我厄。令我得安逸。今者復求主。垂憐申舊德。

豈可委爾心。仰賴侯與王。

被焚且遭伐。凋謝綠聖怒。

滅爾子民、將無一片之石、仍留他石之上、凡此皆緣汝不識寵眷之日故也。』

惟彼聖民。慈主所憶。求主憐我。廁彼之列。惠然來臨。賜以拔擢。

『可頌者主、義塞天主！厥民見贖、恩德不富？

爾等與異邦人雜處、尤宜慎自檢點、勉立善表、務使謗爾者見爾善行、而頌揚天主於眷顧之日。
