God, an army from the nations has attacked your land. They have polluted your holy temple. They have completely destroyed Jerusalem.

Every important building he burned down.The whole Babylonian army under the commander of the imperial guard broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

They burned your sanctuary to the ground; they defiled the dwelling place of your Name.They said in their hearts,“ We will crush them completely!” They burned every place where God was worshiped in the land.

You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of your inheritance— the place, Lord, you made for your dwelling, the sanctuary, Lord, your hands established.

He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.

Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes?Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed on it.
