彼存正直心以牧養之、以巧妙之手引導之、

勵精圖治。盡其忠慤。納民軌物。實憑經略。

David cared for them with a faithful and honest heart. With skilled hands he led them.

With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.

He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands.

He shepherded them with a pure heart and guided them with his skillful hands.

So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them with his skillful hands.

So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

He shepherded them with a pure heart and guided them with his skillful hands.

David cared for them with pure motives; he led them with skill.

“ As for you, if you walk before me faithfully with integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws,

Then the Lord said to me,“ Take again the equipment of a foolish shepherd.For I am going to raise up a shepherd over the land who will not care for the lost, or seek the young, or heal the injured, or feed the healthy, but will eat the meat of the choice sheep, tearing off their hooves.“ Woe to the worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! May the sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm be completely withered, his right eye totally blinded!”

I will sing of your love and justice; to you, Lord, I will sing praise.I will be careful to lead a blameless life— when will you come to me? I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart.I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it.The perverse of heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil.Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not tolerate.My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me.No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord.

After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him:‘ I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears;but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

You say,“ I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.

Solomon answered,“ You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.“ Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number.So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

“ Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant— not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.

For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life— except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.
