耶和華對撒旦說：「好吧，他的一切都在你手中，但不可傷害他。」撒旦便從耶和華面前退去。

至於那些自私自利、違背真理、行為不義的人，祂的烈怒和怒氣要降在他們身上。一切作惡之人必受患難和痛苦，先是猶太人，然後是希臘人。

耶和華大發烈怒，傾倒祂的怒氣，在錫安燃起大火，焚毀城的根基。

所以，祂把烈怒和戰火傾倒在他們身上。他們被火包圍，卻不明白；被烈火焚身，卻不在乎。

耶和華說：「好吧，他在你手中，但要留他一命。」於是，撒旦從耶和華面前退去，開始加害約伯，使他從頭到腳長毒瘡。

上帝的怒火如雨降在他身上，填滿他的肚腹。
