Lord, in trouble they have visited You, They poured out a prayer when Your chastening was upon them.

Thus says the Lord:“ A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more.”

When Mordecai learned all that had happened, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city. He cried out with a loud and bitter cry.He went as far as the front of the king’s gate, for no one might enter the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth.And in every province where the king’s command and decree arrived, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.So Esther’s maids and eunuchs came and told her, and the queen was deeply distressed. And He said,“ Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying,“ She is going to the tomb to weep there.”

And they said to him,“ Thus says Hezekiah:‘ This day is a day of trouble, and rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children have come to birth, but there is no strength to bring them forth.It may be that the Lord your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.

In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

Why should you be stricken again? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faints.From the sole of the foot even to the head, There is no soundness in it, But wounds and bruises and putrefying sores; They have not been closed or bound up, Or soothed with ointment.

Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O Lord— how long?

There is no soundness in my flesh Because of Your anger, Nor any health in my bones Because of my sin.For my iniquities have gone over my head; Like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.My wounds are foul and festering Because of my foolishness.I am troubled, I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.For my loins are full of inflammation, And there is no soundness in my flesh.I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil of my heart.

O Lord, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You.Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry.For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near to the grave.

In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me.

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications.

The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, But who can bear a broken spirit?

Therefore they destroyed them.Now therefore, O Lord our God, I pray, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord God, You alone.”Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying,“ Thus says the Lord God of Israel:‘ Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.’
