耶和華卻對撒母耳說：「不要看他的外貌和他身材高大，我不揀選他。因為，耶和華不像人看人：人是看外貌；耶和華是看內心。」

耶和華啊，你已經鑒察我，認識我。

耶和華試驗義人；惟有惡人和喜愛強暴的人，他心裏恨惡。

我又要殺死她的黨類，叫眾教會知道，我是那察看人肺腑心腸的，並要照你們的行為報應你們各人。

義人的腳步被耶和華立定；他的道路，耶和華也喜愛。

神豈不鑒察這事嗎？因為他曉得人心裏的隱秘。

耶和華啊，求你察看我，試驗我，熬煉我的肺腑心腸。

你已經試驗我的心；你在夜間鑒察我；你熬煉我，卻找不着甚麼；我立志叫我口中沒有過失。

希律不歸榮耀給神，所以主的使者立刻罰他，他被蟲所咬，氣就絕了。

神啊，求你敲碎他們口中的牙！耶和華啊，求你敲掉少壯獅子的大牙！

神啊，求你起來為自己伸訴！要記念愚頑人怎樣終日辱罵你。不要忘記你敵人的聲音；那起來敵你之人的喧嘩時常上升。

耶和華的使者出去，在亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。清早有人起來一看，都是死屍了。亞述王西拿基立就拔營回去，住在尼尼微。一日在他的神－尼斯洛廟裏叩拜，他兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，就逃到亞拉臘地。他兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。

他必保護聖民的腳步，使惡人在黑暗中寂然不動；人都不能靠力量得勝。

你曾斥責外邦，你曾滅絕惡人；你曾塗抹他們的名，直到永永遠遠。仇敵到了盡頭；他們被毀壞，直到永遠。你拆毀他們的城邑，連他們的名號都歸於無有。

為要給孤兒和受欺壓的人伸冤，使強橫的人不再威嚇他們。

他必在海和榮美的聖山中間設立他如宮殿的帳幕；然而到了他的結局，必無人能幫助他。」

願你打斷惡人的膀臂；至於壞人，願你追究他的惡，直到淨盡。

神啊，敵人辱罵要到幾時呢？仇敵褻瀆你的名要到永遠嗎？你為甚麼縮回你的右手？求你從懷中伸出來，毀滅他們。

他從禍坑裏，從淤泥中，把我拉上來，使我的腳立在磐石上，使我腳步穩當。

那賜諸般恩典的神曾在基督裏召你們，得享他永遠的榮耀，等你們暫受苦難之後，必要親自成全你們，堅固你們，賜力量給你們。

耶穌基督的僕人，雅各的弟兄猶大，寫信給那被召、在父神裏蒙愛、為耶穌基督保守的人。

惟有神能照我所傳的福音和所講的耶穌基督，並照永古隱藏不言的奧祕，堅固你們的心。

好使你們當我們主耶穌同他眾聖徒來的時候，在我們父神面前，心裏堅固，成為聖潔，無可責備。
