我若以恶报那与我交好的人（连那无故与我为敌的，我也救了他），

倘若我恩将仇报，无故抢夺仇敌，

如果我以恶回报那与我为友的人，或是无故掠夺与我为敌的人，

如果我恶待那与我和好的人，或是无故掠夺我的敌人，

我若以惡報那與我交好的人－連那無故與我為敵的，我也救了他，

我若以惡回報我的朋友，連那無故與我為敵的，我也救了他，

與我交厚者、以惡報之、無端仇我者、反拯救之、

倘吾曾為此。有罪在雙腕。

if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—

Or I have done evil to my friend. Or I have robbed my enemy without any reason.

if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause,

if I have betrayed a friend or plundered my enemy without cause,

if I have done harm to one at peace with me or have plundered my adversary without cause,

If I have done evil to my friend, Or have plundered my enemy for no reason,

If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause,

If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me( Yea, I have delivered him that without cause was mine adversary;)

if I have done harm to one at peace with me or have plundered my adversary without cause,

If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me;( yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)

or have wronged my ally, or helped his lawless enemy,

if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me( yes, I have delivered him who without cause was my adversary),

With these words David sharply rebuked his men and did not allow them to attack Saul. And Saul left the cave and went his way. (niv)

My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant. (niv)

They repay me evil for good, and hatred for my friendship. (niv)

This day you have seen with your own eyes how the Lord delivered you into my hands in the cave. And may the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you.As the old saying goes,‘ From evildoers come evil deeds,’ so my hand will not touch you.“ Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Who are you pursuing? A dead dog? A flea?May the Lord be our judge and decide between us. May he consider my cause and uphold it; may he vindicate me by delivering me from your hand.” (niv)

The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart. (niv)

They had not gone far from the city when Joseph said to his steward,“ Go after those men at once, and when you catch up with them, say to them,‘ Why have you repaid good with evil? (niv)

But David said to Abishai,“ Don’t destroy him! Who can lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed and be guiltless?As surely as the Lord lives,” he said,“ the Lord himself will strike him, or his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish.But the Lord forbid that I should lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head, and let’s go.”So David took the spear and water jug near Saul’s head, and they left. No one saw or knew about it, nor did anyone wake up. They were all sleeping, because the Lord had put them into a deep sleep.Then David crossed over to the other side and stood on top of the hill some distance away; there was a wide space between them.He called out to the army and to Abner son of Ner,“ Aren’t you going to answer me, Abner?” Abner replied,“ Who are you who calls to the king?”David said,“ You’re a man, aren’t you? And who is like you in Israel? Why didn’t you guard your lord the king? Someone came to destroy your lord the king.What you have done is not good. As surely as the Lord lives, you and your men must die, because you did not guard your master, the Lord’s anointed. Look around you. Where are the king’s spear and water jug that were near his head?”Saul recognized David’s voice and said,“ Is that your voice, David my son?” David replied,“ Yes it is, my lord the king.” (niv)

Then Saul said,“ I have sinned. Come back, David my son. Because you considered my life precious today, I will not try to harm you again. Surely I have acted like a fool and have been terribly wrong.” (niv)

Ahimelek answered the king,“ Who of all your servants is as loyal as David, the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard and highly respected in your household? (niv)

Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember that I stood before you and spoke in their behalf to turn your wrath away from them.So give their children over to famine; hand them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives be made childless and widows; let their men be put to death, their young men slain by the sword in battle. (niv)

Then David fled from Naioth at Ramah and went to Jonathan and asked,“ What have I done? What is my crime? How have I wronged your father, that he is trying to kill me?” (niv)

“ You are more righteous than I,” he said.“ You have treated me well, but I have treated you badly.You have just now told me about the good you did to me; the Lord delivered me into your hands, but you did not kill me.When a man finds his enemy, does he let him get away unharmed? May the Lord reward you well for the way you treated me today. (niv)

As surely as I valued your life today, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble.” (niv)

“ Please forgive your servant’s presumption. The Lord your God will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my lord, because you fight the Lord’s battles, and no wrongdoing will be found in you as long as you live.Even though someone is pursuing you to take your life, the life of my lord will be bound securely in the bundle of the living by the Lord your God, but the lives of your enemies he will hurl away as from the pocket of a sling. (niv)

Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him,“ Let not the king do wrong to his servant David; he has not wronged you, and what he has done has benefited you greatly.He took his life in his hands when he killed the Philistine. The Lord won a great victory for all Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then would you do wrong to an innocent man like David by killing him for no reason?” (niv)
