I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s children.

我於昆弟為外人、我於同胞為異族兮、

即我同氣、即我手足、亦視余若疏遠兮、

我兄弟視我如陌路、我同胞待我以外人、

夫予之蒙恥而受辱兮。非為主之故乎。

I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother’s children;

I’m an outsider to my own family. I’m a stranger to my own mother’s children.

I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s sons.

Even my own brothers pretend they don’t know me; they treat me like a stranger.

I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to my mother’s sons

I have become estranged from my brothers, And a stranger to my mother’s sons.

I am become a stranger unto my brethren, And an alien unto my mother’s children.

My own brothers treat me like a stranger; they act as if I were a foreigner.

Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors, a horror to my acquaintances. Those who saw me on the street fled from me.

My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague. My kinsmen stand far away.

But he denied it before them all, saying,“ I don’t know what you are talking about.”When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there,“ This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”Again he denied it with an oath,“ I don’t know the man.”After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter,“ Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known.”Then he began to curse and to swear,“ I don’t know the man!” Immediately the rooster crowed.

He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.

Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger burned against David, and he said,“ Why have you come down? With whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride, and the naughtiness of your heart; for you have come down that you might see the battle.”

“ He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me.Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer. I beg him with my mouth.My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me.All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.

For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.

Don’t trust in a neighbor. Don’t put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth!For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter- in- law against her mother- in- law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

“ Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved.

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.

But all this has happened that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.

For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter- in- law against her mother- in- law.A man’s foes will be those of his own household.

Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying,“ Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him.”Immediately he came to Jesus, and said,“ Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed him.Jesus said to him,“ Friend, why are you here?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
