Thus says the Lord:“ Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?

For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:“ I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

saying:“ There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying,‘ Get justice for me from my adversary.’And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself,‘ Though I do not fear God nor regard man,yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”Then the Lord said,“ Hear what the unjust judge said.And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?

He will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor.

To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, That the man of the earth may oppress no more.

He will judge Your people with righteousness, And Your poor with justice.

Then the priests, the Levites, arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard; and their prayer came up to His holy dwelling place, to heaven.

From the place of His dwelling He looks On all the inhabitants of the earth;

Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands,‘ You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”

“ If I have kept the poor from their desire, Or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,Or eaten my morsel by myself, So that the fatherless could not eat of it

Look down from Your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel and the land which You have given us, just as You swore to our fathers,“ a land flowing with milk and honey.”’

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

“ However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:‘ Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the Lord, Or what is the place of My rest?

Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless and the one who had no helper.The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
