They search out injustice, saying,“ We have accomplished a diligent search.” For the inward mind and heart of a man are deep.

They devise crimes and say,“ We have perfected a secret plan.” The inner man and the heart are mysterious.

They devise injustices, saying,“ We are ready with a well conceived plot”; For the inward thought and the heart of a person are deep.

They devise iniquities:“ We have perfected a shrewd scheme.” Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.

They search out iniquities; We have accomplished, say they, a diligent search: And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.

They devise crimes and say,“ We have perfected a secret plan.” The inner man and the heart are mysterious.

They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward[ thought] of every one[ of them], and the heart,[ is] deep.

They devise unjust schemes; they disguise a well-conceived plot. Man’s inner thoughts cannot be discovered.

They plot injustice, saying,“ We have made a perfect plan!” Surely man’s mind and heart are cunning.

“ The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy.So they concluded,“ Our only chance of finding grounds for accusing Daniel will be in connection with the rules of his religion.”

The Jewish leaders replied,“ By our law he ought to die because he called himself the Son of God.”

What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark!“ The Lord can’t see us,” they say.“ He doesn’t know what’s going on!”

So Pilate, the governor, went out to them and asked,“ What is your charge against this man?”“ We wouldn’t have handed him over to you if he weren’t a criminal!” they retorted.

Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing there with Saul’s men, spoke up.“ When I was at Nob,” he said,“ I saw the son of Jesse talking to the priest, Ahimelech son of Ahitub.

Inside, the leading priests and the entire high council were trying to find witnesses who would lie about Jesus, so they could put him to death.

So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time— before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.

Malicious witnesses testify against me. They accuse me of crimes I know nothing about.

My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery.

Then he shouted to Saul,“ Why do you listen to the people who say I am trying to harm you?

The grave is their eternal home, where they will stay forever. They may name their estates after themselves,

Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out.
