我知道耶和華偉大，我們的主超越一切神明。耶和華在天上、地下、海洋、深淵按自己的旨意行事。

到了獻晚祭的時候，以利亞先知走到壇前禱告：「亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的上帝耶和華啊，求你今天讓這些人知道你是以色列的上帝，我是你的僕人，我是按你的命令做這一切事。耶和華啊，求你應允我，應允我，好讓眾人知道你耶和華是上帝，你要使他們回心轉意。」

你們打探了那地方四十天，你們要為自己的罪受苦四十年，一年頂一天。那時，你們就知道與我為敵的後果。』我耶和華已經說過。我必使你們這群與我為敵的惡人死在曠野，無一倖免。」

你們的上帝耶和華將在你們前面漸漸地趕走那些民族，你們不可急速地滅盡他們，否則你們周圍的野獸會大增，危害你們。你們的上帝耶和華要將他們交給你們，使他們驚恐萬狀，直到被滅絕。

因為造你的是你的丈夫，祂名叫萬軍之耶和華；救贖你的是以色列的聖者，祂是普天下的上帝。
