彼眾口無信實、心懷惡慝、喉若裂塋、舌施諂諛、

彼敵人、心懷惡念兮、口尚虛詞、喉似破塋兮、舌則諂諛是施。

彼口中無正直、心懷奸惡、喉如陷坑、舌如油渦、

求主保我身。莫為敵所得。平易爾道路。扶我庶無蹶。

Not a word from their mouths can be trusted. Their hearts are filled with a desire to hurt others. Their throats are like open graves. With their tongues they tell lies.

For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.

My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery.

Your rich people are violent; your inhabitants are liars and their tongues speak deceitfully.

Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

“ They make ready their tongue like a bow, to shoot lies; it is not by truth that they triumph in the land. They go from one sin to another; they do not acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.“ Beware of your friends; do not trust anyone in your clan. For every one of them is a deceiver, and every friend a slanderer.Friend deceives friend, and no one speaks the truth. They have taught their tongues to lie; they weary themselves with sinning.You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.

You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.

Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet.

“ Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.”

I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes.In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin.The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good.Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong.

They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.

Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.

I will show no partiality, nor will I flatter anyone;for if I were skilled in flattery, my Maker would soon take me away.

They plot injustice and say,“ We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.

Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts.May the Lord silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue—

No, in your heart you devise injustice, and your hands mete out violence on the earth.Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.

Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.

You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed— God is our witness.

Then the Lord said to him,“ Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come— sexual immorality, theft, murder,adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.

Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts?

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
