永生與不朽。人力寧能致。

For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others.

Everyone can see that even wise people die. People who are foolish and who have no sense also pass away. All of them leave their wealth to others.

And just as it is destined for people to die once, and after this comes judgment,

I am certainly more stupid than any man, And I do not have the understanding of a man;

As a partridge that hatches eggs which it has not laid, So is a person who makes a fortune, but unjustly; In the middle of his days it will abandon him, And in the end he will be a fool.”

A stupid person has no knowledge, Nor does a foolish person understand this:When the wicked sprouted up like grass And all who did injustice flourished, It was only that they might be destroyed forevermore.

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned—for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not counted against anyone when there is no law.Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the violation committed by Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

For there is no lasting remembrance of the wise, along with the fool, since in the coming days everything will soon be forgotten. And how the wise and the fool alike die!So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was unhappy to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.So I hated all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who will come after me.And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the fruit of my labor for which I have labored by acting wisely under the sun. This too is futility.Therefore I completely despaired over all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored under the sun.When there is a person who has labored with wisdom, knowledge, and skill, and then gives his legacy to one who has not labored for it; this too is futility and a great evil.

But they are altogether stupid and foolish; The instruction from idols is nothing but wood!

For I have taken all this to my heart, even to examine it all, that righteous people, wise people, and their deeds are in the hand of God. People do not know whether it will be love or hatred; anything awaits them.It is the same for all. There is one fate for the righteous and for the wicked; for the good, for the clean and the unclean; for the person who offers a sacrifice and for the one who does not sacrifice. As the good person is, so is the sinner; the one who swears an oath is just as the one who is afraid to swear an oath.

There is a sickening evil which I have seen under the sun: wealth being hoarded by its owner to his detriment.When that wealth was lost through bad business and he had fathered a son, then there was nothing to support him.As he came naked from his mother’s womb, so he will return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.This also is a sickening evil: exactly as a person is born, so will he die. What then is the advantage for him who labors for the wind?

One who loves discipline loves knowledge, But one who hates rebuke is stupid.

For to a person who is good in His sight, He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who is good in God’s sight. This too is futility and striving after wind.

Riches do not benefit on the day of wrath, But righteousness rescues from death.

From people by Your hand, Lord, From people of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your treasure; They are satisfied with children, And leave their abundance to their babies.

For when he dies, he will take nothing with him; His wealth will not descend after him.

But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either.If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
