For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others.

Everyone can see that even wise people die. People who are foolish and who have no sense also pass away. All of them leave their wealth to others.

So foolish[ was] I, and ignorant: I was[ as] a beast before thee.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Surely I[ am] more brutish than[ any] man, and have not the understanding of a man.

[ As] the partridge sitteth[ on eggs], and hatcheth[ them] not;[ so] he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;[ it is] that they shall be destroyed for ever:

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:( For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

For[ there is] no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now[ is] in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise[ man]? as the fool.Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun[ is] grievous unto me: for all[ is] vanity and vexation of spirit.Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise[ man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This[ is] also vanity.Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.For there is a man whose labour[ is] in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it[ for] his portion. This also[ is] vanity and a great evil.

But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock[ is] a doctrine of vanities.

For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works,[ are] in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred[ by] all[ that is] before them.All[ things come] alike to all:[ there is] one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as[ is] the good, so[ is] the sinner;[ and] he that sweareth, as[ he] that feareth an oath.

There is a sore evil[ which] I have seen under the sun,[ namely], riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and[ there is] nothing in his hand.As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.And this also[ is] a sore evil,[ that] in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof[ is] brutish.

For[ God] giveth to a man that[ is] good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to[ him that is] good before God. This also[ is] vanity and vexation of spirit.

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

From men[ which are] thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world,[ which have] their portion in[ this] life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid[ treasure]: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their[ substance] to their babes.

For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.For we brought nothing into[ this] world,[ and it is] certain we can carry nothing out.And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and[ into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
