For all can see that the wise die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish, leaving their wealth to others.

愚蠢者弗知、蒙昧者不明乎此兮、惡人發生如草、作慝者興盛、無非使之恆亡兮、

是以罪由一人入世、因罪而有死、於是死延於眾、以皆獲罪也、蓋律未立、罪已在世、但無律、則不得謂之罪、然自亞當至摩西、乃死乘權、以及非若亞當之罪而獲罪者、夫亞當乃後至者之對像也、

智者愚者、永不見憶、蓋至來日、皆必遺忘、噫、智者之死、曷同於愚者哉、我遂惡生、因於日下經營、乃為煩惱、悉屬虛空、莫非捕風、我惡我於日下勞力操作、蓋所得者、必遺於我後也、彼為智為愚、孰克知之、我於日下以智勞力操作者、彼必主之、斯亦虛空、我遂轉念、於日下勞力之操作、使心失望、有以智識技能、勞而得者、遺於未勞者為業、斯亦虛空、害莫大焉、

彼皆冥頑無知、偶像之道、惟木而已、

凡此諸事、我決志詳察之、則知義者與智者、及其作為、咸在上帝之手、或蒙愛、或見惡、人不之知、悉在其前、眾之所遭、初無或異、義者、惡者、仁者、潔者不潔者、祭者不祭者、所遇惟一、善人如何、罪人亦如何、發誓者如何、畏誓者亦如何、

我於日下見有大患、乃人存積貨財、反自害也、猝遭禍患、貨財俱亡、如其生子、手無所有、其出母胎、裸體而來、亦必如是而逝、勞而得者、手無可攜、若何而來、亦若何而去、斯為大患、勞而捕風、有何益哉、

悅勸懲者、乃悅知識、惡斥責者、是為愚蠢、

彼所悅者、錫以智慧、知識歡樂、惟以憂勞加於罪人、使其所收所積、歸於上帝所悅者、斯亦虛空、乃為捕風、

震怒之日、資財無益、惟義拯人於死、

耶和華歟、以手援我、脫於斯世之人、其業乃在今生兮、爾以財貨充其懷、子孫遂其欲、餘業遺於後嗣兮、

因其臨沒、毫無所攜、彼之尊榮、不隨之往兮、

然敬虔而知足、其利大矣、蓋我儕入世、無所攜來、逝世亦無所攜去、惟有衣食即當知足、圖富有者、乃陷於誘惑機檻、及無知有害之諸慾、溺人於滅亡者也、蓋好利為萬惡之根、有慕之者、迷失乎信、以多苦自刺、○
