予聞仇敵欺侮予、凌辱予、終日愧恥、自蒙厥面兮、

我所受之凌辱、終日在我面前、我之羞愧、蒙蔽我臉、

貽笑於異國。冷嘲與熱罵。令我心如結。

All day long I have to live with my shame. My face is covered with it.

All day long my disgrace is before me, and shame has covered my face

We can’t escape the constant humiliation; shame is written across our faces.

My disgrace is before me all day long, and shame has covered my face,

All day long my dishonor is before me And I am covered with my humiliation,

My dishonor is continually before me, And the shame of my face has covered me,

All the day long is my dishonor before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me,

All day long I feel humiliated and am overwhelmed with shame,

For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face.

May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.

If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!Pardon your servant, Lord. What can I say, now that Israel has been routed by its enemies?The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. And the Lord sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men and the commanders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king. So he withdrew to his own land in disgrace. And when he went into the temple of his god, some of his sons, his own flesh and blood, cut him down with the sword.

Let us lie down in our shame, and let our disgrace cover us. We have sinned against the Lord our God, both we and our ancestors; from our youth till this day we have not obeyed the Lord our God.”
