“ Listen to me and I will explain to you; let me tell you what I have seen,what the wise have declared, hiding nothing received from their ancestors( to whom alone the land was given when no foreigners moved among them):

That is why the poets say:“ Come to Heshbon and let it be rebuilt; let Sihon’s city be restored.“ Fire went out from Heshbon, a blaze from the city of Sihon. It consumed Ar of Moab, the citizens of Arnon’s heights.Woe to you, Moab! You are destroyed, people of Chemosh! He has given up his sons as fugitives and his daughters as captives to Sihon king of the Amorites.“ But we have overthrown them; Heshbon’s dominion has been destroyed all the way to Dibon. We have demolished them as far as Nophah, which extends to Medeba.”

Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.

In the future, when your son asks you,“ What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the Lord our God has commanded you?”
