And they will reign on the earth.”

This great choir sang a wonderful new song in front of the throne of God and before the four living beings and the twenty four elders. No one could learn this song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.

But many of the people who heard their message believed it, so the number of men who believed now totaled about 5,000.

I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart.Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.

Bring me out of prison so I can thank you. The godly will crowd around me, for you are good to me.”

But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the Lord their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the Lord and of his goodness.

Then everyone will be afraid; they will proclaim the mighty acts of God and realize all the amazing things he does.The godly will rejoice in the Lord and find shelter in him. And those who do what is right will praise him.

David was looking into the future and speaking of the Messiah’s resurrection. He was saying that God would not leave him among the dead or allow his body to rot in the grave.“ God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this.Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said,‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right handuntil I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”’“ So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!”Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles,“ Brothers, what should we do?”Peter replied,“ Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away— all who have been called by the Lord our God.”Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners,“ Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day— about 3,000 in all.

But give great joy to those who came to my defense. Let them continually say,“ Great is the Lord, who delights in blessing his servant with peace!”

In that day you will sing:“ I will praise you, O Lord! You were angry with me, but not anymore. Now you comfort me.See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation!In that wonderful day you will sing:“ Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!
