May they be like wind-driven chaff, as the LORD’s angel attacks them!

May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away;

How often are they like straw before the wind, and like chaff swept away by a whirlwind?

But the horde of invaders will be like fine dust, the horde of tyrants like chaff that is blown away. It will happen suddenly, in a flash.

Not so with the wicked! Instead they are like wind-driven chaff.

The LORD’s messenger went out and killed 185,000 troops in the Assyrian camp. When they got up early the next morning, there were all the corpses!

O my God, make them like dead thistles, like dead weeds blown away by the wind!Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides,chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm.Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD.May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame!
